3 - Trust us, we're Engineers!

After having swollen hands and hoarse voices, we managed to bring home the gold in this term’s Chants and Cheers Competition last Friday, February 5 2016. Very unexpected indeed!

The Chants and Cheers Competition is one of the English Term’s highlights. Each block is expected to compose a 3 to 5-minute chant representing their block’s characteristics. It is truly one of the most amazing events in this term for such it doesn’t only improve our creative thinking but also our unity as a block.

It really improved our block’s cohesiveness. Although we were not able to be complete in most of our practices, it made us have a bond that helped us big-time while we are constructing our chant. At first, we thought that this event will again make a mockery for our block just like what happened in the past. But as we continue practicing and revising our chant, it gave us the idea that we can do it and make ourselves proud. I salute Ms. Nina for giving her time to guide us and correcting our flaws despite of having a busy schedule.

As the day of the competition gets closer and closer, we got really nervous because first of all we are going to compete against ABMA students who are well known for having creative ideas and artistic skills. And also against all the other blocks, we are the one with the least number of members which can be one of the reasons for us to not be heard by the audience.

The day of the competition came and all the other blocks have already performed their chants. As we step into the stage, we suddenly got in sync and performed with harmony. Even us cannot explain why did that happened, maybe because of adrenaline or nervousness. But because of that, we were able to deliver our chant loud and clear although we’ve had a handful of mistakes.

When we were called as the champion of the event, I stopped for a second and talked to myself, “Is this real life or am I just dreaming?”.
I’m sure that this will be one of our most memorable experience here in APC. The day that engineers succeeded.
WE ARE PROUD ENGINEERS!
