After getting the 2nd place in the slam poetry
contest, we were told that we will once again performing our piece for someone
at the MPH1. Without knowing what is the purpose of the event, we still
rehearsed our piece in preparation. At first, we’ve thought that there will be another
competition for the slam poetry but it turns out that it is for a surprised
birthday celebration for one of the famous artists in GMA network, Mr. Benjamin
Alvez last March 18, 2016.
In the beginning, I was left confused because there are
cameras and microphones that are placed in the different corners of MPH1. Then
suddenly Mr. Benjamin arrived to celebrate his birthday in our school, a bit
surprising am I right? Then Me, Jem, Cylord and the other winners in the last
competition once again presented their speeches in front of him. After that, he
also presented his own piece that he made for someone a year ago.
It was an honor for us to perform our speech in front of a
large number students, and to Mr. Benjamin Alves who loves poems. I hope that
there will be more events like this in future as it gives the students a
different kind of experience that they can share to their friends.
